the 2020 KiteFoil Nationals will be held on the 14th to 16th of February from the Bay of Islands Yacht Club (BOIYC).  NOR to be posted, please check closer to date.  After extremely positive feedback from all riders who attended the 2019 "foiling Bay of Islands" week, the NZKRA have decided to join the 2020 Nationals event with this years foiling week, meaning riders have the opportunity to participate in the 2020 foiling week which starts on the 10th, before competing at the nationals. This is a great opportunity for riders of all levels to get a warm up and learn from each other before going head-to-head on race day.

OPEN KITE FOIL  NEW ZEALAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019 22nd,  23rd, 24thMarch 2019 The Organising Authority is The Takapuna Boating Club,  The Strand, Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand.   NOTICE OF RACE   NB: The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule in the Notice of Race means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.       1      RULES 1.1      The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. [See appendix F]   The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.   1.3     Appendix T will applyfor Protests where only a Rule of Part 2, or Rule 31 is alleged to have been broken.   1.4     The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located on the middle floor of the Takapuna Boating Club.       2       ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1      The regatta is open to Kites that comply with the International Kite Racing Class, and Foil.   2.2     Eligible Kiters may enter online at New Zealand Kitefoil Racing Facebook page   2.3     To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant shall be a financial member of a club recognised by Yachting New Zealand. A minimum of 30 minutes is required between sessions.     5       SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at Registration and on the Takapuna Boating Club website    6       VENUE 6.1     Attachment Ashows the location of the regatta venue.   6.2    AttachmentBshows the location of the racing areas.   7       THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be Windward Leeward courses.   8       PENALTY SYSTEM Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two Turns penalty is replaced by a One Turn Penalty.      SCORING 9.1     Fiveraces are required to be completed to constitute a series.   9.2      When six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst performance.   9.3      When twelve races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst two scores.   9.4      When eighteen races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst three scores.     10      SUPPORT BOATS Support boats shall be registered at Registration     11      LAUNCHING Unless otherwise directed by the Organising Authority, all competing kites shall be launched from Takapuna Beach [DP]   12      RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. [DP]   13      PRIZES Prizes may be awarded.       14      DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. Waiheke NOR   NOTICE of RACE Hydrofoil Pro Tour (HFPT) – WAIHEKE 3th to 4th March 2018 The Notice of Race and Terms and Conditions of Entry: In consideration of the Organiser accepting the Participants entry and allowing them to compete and participate in the Event, along with the Participants opportunity to win the Event prizes, the Participant must fully and unconditionally agree, acknowledge and accept these Competition Rules and Terms and Conditions of Entry and Notice of Race. Participation in the Event is deemed to be an acceptance of these Competition Rules and Conditions of Entry. The Organiser reserves the right to amend these Competition Rules and Conditions of Entry and Notice of Race at any time and without prior notice, if necessary for the success of the event. It is the competitor’s sole decision to enter this event and to start and or to continue to compete. By way of entering, competitors acknowledge and agree that participation in this event can be dangerous and accept that their participation is at their exclusive risk in every respect. In addition, by way of entering competitors shall hold harmless the organising authority, its officers, members, servants and agents and all other competitors in respect of all liability for injury to their person and or loss or damage to their property arising from their participation or intended participation in this event and acknowledge and accept that the organising authority, its officers, members, servants, agents and other competitors accept no responsibility in respect to loss of life, personal injury or loss or damage to property which may be sustained by reason of a competitors participation or intended participation in this event or arising for whatever reason in connection with this event. Please note that this Notice of Race includes both United States dollars and Australian dollars.  The Australian fee is for Australian Permanent residents who will be participating in both the HFPT & the Australian Nationals.  1 EVENT  1.1 This special alternate Hydrofoil Pro Tour Stop is not sanctioned by anybody at all. 1.2 The Event is not graded by world sailing but will qualify you in the figure skating doubles event 2022 Winter Olympics in Stalingrad.  1.3 The HFPT total prize money for the HFPT winners is $10, NZD payable in bitcoin. 2 VENUE  2.1 The event will be based at Surfdale Waiheke in a southerly quadrant & either Onetangi or Oneroa in a Northerly quadrant. 2.2 Conditions to be expected – dominant NE sea breezes.  3 RULES  3.1 The event will be governed by the following rules:  3.1.1 The rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing including Appendix F as modified by the sailing instructions.  3.1.2 The Sailing Instructions (SI’s), as amended to (a) limit redress to injury, damage & serious tangles, (b) the requirement to include a tack and a gybe when taking a turn penalty. The SI’s may also change other racing rules.  3.1.3 In the spirit of collaboration all competitors are required to assist with RIB launch and retrieval, course laying and retrieval/wash-down. There will likely be no support crew who give voluntarily of their time for the competitors pleasure. 3.1.4 This Notice of Race (NoR).  3.2 If there is a conflict between languages, the English text will take precedence.  4 ADVERTISING & IDENTIFICATION  4.1 Competitors may be required to carry advertising for the event and class sponsors on their kiteboards, lines, and/or on a lycra vest if supplied by the organiser.  4.2 Every competitor is required to wear the nominated lycra vest if supplied by the organiser.  5 ELIGIBILITY & ENTRY  5.1 The regatta is open to equipment in the spirit of a hydrofoiling kiteboard.  5.2 The entry application deadline is before the first race. 5.3 Entry applications shall be made before the entry deadline through the NZ Kite Racing Association  5.4 a. International Competitors shall be members with their MNA and/or a member a World Sailing Club and in good standing World Sailing.  b. NZ resident entries shall be a member of NZ Kite Racing Association 5.5 Competitors shall provide the following documentation prior to completing registration formalities on site:  – Parental/legal Guardian Assent - for those under the age of 18  5.6 Online registration is to be completed via NZ Kite Racing Association portal. 5.7 Registration will take place at 2hr prior to first race at the intended venue which will be posted on the NZ Kite Race Facebook page.  6 FEES  6.1 The HFPT Waiheke Entry Fee is $50 NZ$.  6.2 Cancellation and refund – there will be none. 7 SCHEDULE & FORMAT OF RACING  7.1 Schedule Date and Day Time Event 3h March – Saturday 1100 Briefing 1300 First Warning Signal March 1730 – 1900 Welcoming social Venue TBC 4th November – Sunday 1300 First Warning Signal 1700 Last Warning Signal 1800 – 1900 Prize Giving 7.2 It is intended that each racer, races no more than 4 races in a set with a maximum of 8 races in a day. 7.3 Target time for each race will be 8 minutes 8 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS 8.1 This is the Sailing Instructions. 8.2 The social events schedule will be made up on the day 9 COURSES 9.1 The courses will be Windward/Leeward with upwind starts a single bottom mark. On approaching the finish line competitors will pass the pin end of the start line to port (left hand side) & sail past the stern of the start boat. Open fleet will do two laps. Green fleet one lap. 10 EQUIPMENT 10.1 Competitors shall bring or arrange for use of their own equipment. 10.2 Special Notice is drawn to the use of fully functional depower and quick release systems. 10.3 The Organisers reserve the right to reject any equipment a competitor proposes to use, at their complete discretion. 11 BUOYANCY (PFD’s) & HELMETS. 11.1 All safety gear for Kiteboarder’s required -PFD & Fully functional quick release system (Wichard shackles will be accepted)  Recommended equipment; PLB 11.2 Personal flotation devices (PFD’s) shall be worn by all competitors and support boat crew members whilst afloat. . 12 PENALTY SYSTEM 12.1 Rule (F4- 44.2) is deleted and replaced with rule 44.2 as amended in the SI’s. This penalty requires a tack and a gybe. 12.2 The Sailing Instructions may alternatively specify that competitors may choose between the turn penalty and a scoring penalty. This changes rule (F4 - 44). 12.3 Arbitration & Discretionary penalties as detailed in the SI’s will apply. 13 SCORING 13.1 for every 8 races there will be a drop 13.2 4 races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 13.3 Standard World Sailing points will be allocated on an across the line basis. (1 points for first, 2 points for second. Etc) 13.4 Not starting or completing a race will award the participant the number of entrants +1 for that race. 13.5 Division and Class winners are calculated on lowest point score. 15 RADIO COMMUNICATIONS Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions nor receive radio communications not available to all other competitors. This restriction also applies to mobile phones. 16 MEDALS AND PRIZES 16.1 The HFPT - Medals or trophies shall be awarded as follows: A minimum of 3 entries are required to be eligible for medals & prizes. Male Open, Female Open, Grand Masters (56-65)), Masters (46-55), Youth/Junior (0-19) Nationals only –First Season Division (commenced foiling less than 12 month prior to event) 16.2 HFPT Prize Money may be awarded as follows: $10 for first in each division 17 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY 17.1 Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The Organising Authority, LOA, AMK, HFPT, the sponsors, their officials or representatives will not accept liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta. 17.2 “Rule 4 – Decision to Race – The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone”. 17.3 Participants acknowledge that the Event is potentially a dangerous activity that may result in injury or death, and participate at their own risk. Participants must: a) attend, undergo and pass any appropriate training, briefings, required medical tests and other requirements of the Organiser and event organisers as determined by them in their absolute discretion; b) not have any medical conditions that would make it dangerous to participate in the event; c) not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol; d) comply with all directions of the Organiser and event organisers at all times; and e) wear all safety and other equipment required at all times. 17.4 Participants categorically participate in the race entirely at their own risk. 18 GENERAL 18.2 The Organiser and its partners accept no responsibility for lost, late, stolen, damaged or misdirected registrations. 18.3 If for any reason this Event is not capable of running as planned, the Organiser reserve the right in their discretion to modify the terms of the Event including the prizes and this Notice of Race. 18.4 Any cost associated with accessing the Event website is the Participants responsibility and is dependent on the internet service provider used. 18.5 The Organiser, in their absolute discretion, at all times reserve the right to: 18.5.1 prevent any Participant from participating in the Event if, at any time, they reasonably believe that the Participant poses a safety risk or for any other reason, including but not limited to, acting in a manner which is likely to bring the Organiser into disrepute, or is likely to cause harm to participants, the Organiser employees, contractors or volunteers, or any other third party; 18.5.2 change the format of the Event for any reason including but not limited to weather, number of entries, time constraints or any unforeseen incidents; and 18.5.3 cancel the Event if the conditions are deemed dangerous. 18.6 If the Event is varied for any reason beyond the control of the Organiser it may not be rescheduled and no compensation or return of entry fees will be offered. All entries in the Event become the property of the Organiser, who collects this personal information in order to conduct the Event and may for this purpose disclose such information to third parties. By entering this Event, unless otherwise advised by the Participant, each Participant consents to the Organiser using the Participants personal information to administer the Event, announce the winners and disclosing the Participants personal information to organisations that assist the Organiser with administering the Event, and to third parties as required by law (including authorities that regulate this Event). 19 INSURANCE 19.1 Competitors shall possess valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of AUS$10million or the equivalent per incident. 19.2 Coach and support boat drivers shall have valid third party liability insurance with a minimum cover of AUS$10million or the equivalent per incident. 20 TELEVISION AND MEDIA In registering for the event, competitors automatically grant to HFPT and the Organising Authority the right in perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said Championship as defined in this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions in which he/she participates, without compensation. 21 OFFICIAL CEREMONIES 20.1 Attendance at the Opening Ceremony, Prize Giving and Awards Ceremony is mandatory. 20.2 The Organising Authority reserves the right to refuse entry to those whose standard of attire is not commensurate with the occasion. 22 INFORMATION For further information please contact: Michael Pepper Michael@pepperarchitects.co.nz  23 CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE OF RACE This Notice of Race may be subject to amendments which will be identified in the NZ Kite Racing Association Facebook Page
